Highland Hideaway - South Portage Lake

Overlooking beautiful South Portage Lake, Highland Hideaway is the perfect escape. With a meandering path down to a large tiered dock (800+ sq. ft), there is plenty of water access for swimming and kayaking. There are also upper and lower decks overlooking the lake with ample space for lounging or watching a beautiful Haliburton sunset.

Winter or summer, Highland Hideaway provides for all your needs with three large bedrooms (one king size and two queen size beds) and two full bathrooms. Your family will be able to create great memories in the fully equipped open kitchen, dining and living rooms, while still being able to take in the breathtaking views of the lake. Whether cozying up by a fireplace in winter or strolling along the quiet country roads and taking in the views in summer, there is plenty to see and even more to do. To compliment the three bedrooms, the lower level family room includes two double beds perfect for the kids, extended family, or friends. In case you have kids who want to stay close to Mom and Dad, there is also a fold out futon in the basement bedroom. There is plenty to enjoy indoors but why not make the most of cottage country. Enjoy your time out on the water with one of our four kayaks (one child-sized 140 lbs max, and three adult-sized), the peddle boat or the stand-up paddle board. We have various adult sized PFD's, but you will need to bring PFD’s for the kids that you know will fit properly. If fishing is your thing, cast a line in and try to catch one of the variety of fish found in the lake, such as Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass and Walleye.

For those who are not quite ready to disconnect completely, there is unlimited WIFI at the cottage. There is a large screen TV upstairs and a Smart TV downstairs. There is also good cell phone reception in the area. Whether enjoying a meal together on the large upper deck or lounging on the dock while the kids swim in the lake, Highland Hideaway is a place where memories are created that will last a lifetime.

There are also plenty of amenities within a short drive of the cottage. Whether it be golfing at one of the 4 courses nearby, off-road cycling, or even ATV'ing in the summer or dogsledding, skiing or snowshoeing in the winter, whatever your interest, all are within easy driving distance. Situated on a quiet country road just 10 minutes from the village of Haliburton, the views around Highland Hideaway are breathtaking any time of year but are especially so in the Fall within the mixed forest. Make sure you bring a camera when you go for a walk – you might just see some of the wildlife that calls our neck of the woods home! Rest. Relax. Reconnect.
